Holidays on Disney Cruise Line

No doubt about it, the holidays are a special time to cruise with Disney. Disney Cruise Line’s Very Merrytime Cruises offer holiday events, character meet and so many unique Guest experiences which are only offered at this time of the year. Let’s take a look at all of the holiday happenings at sea.

Holiday Events Onboard

A Very Merrytime Cruise is a feast for all of your senses. You’ll see the lights, smell the gingerbread, feel the flurry of snowflakes in the Atrium, taste fantastic holiday-inspired treats and beverages, and it’s all set to a holiday soundtrack. Take a look as Executive Cruise Director Clayton Lindsey shares all the Holiday Events on a Very Merrytime Cruise.

On a Disney ship, you won’t just see the Christmas decor, you will smell it, too. Guests can visit the super size gingerbread house in the the Atrium. It’s aroma lets you know without a doubt, you are on a holiday cruise with Disney. The Atrium itself is home to a gigantic Christmas tree, garland for nautical miles and plenty of poinsettias.

What’s a Disney cruise without awesome entertainment? A holiday cruise with DCL packs in everything you love about cruising with Mickey, and adds even more magic like storytelling with Mrs. Claus, Santa’s Winter Wonderland Ball, carolers and even a holiday deck party. If it just isn’t Christmas without snow, DCL can make that happen, too. Snow, in the Caribbean? Absolutely! Only through the magic of Disney can you experience snow inside the ship in the Atrium Lobby and see snow flurries on Castaway Cay, Disney’s private island in the Caribbean.

 Must Do Family Events

Don’t miss the gingerbread house decorating event. It is a great way to focus on creating something special with just your family. Don your matching holiday pajamas and get a family portrait with Santa. I shouldn’t have to say this, but I will… Please be sure that all pjs are family-friendly and appropriate to wear in public.

Just for Kids

The Youth Activities Centers are hubs of holiday happiness. (I love alliteration.) In the Oceaneer Club and Lab your kids will get to create holiday crafts and decorate gingerbread men. Teens and tweens don’t get left out of the fun either. The Winter Wonderland Scavenger Hunt and Holiday Animation Cells will keep them full of Christmas Spirit.

Disney Character Holiday Meet & Greets

This is your chance to have that once in a lifetime photo with the world-famous Disney Characters all dressed up for the holidays. On board the ship, you’ll see them in their holiday best, but on deck and on Castaway Cay, their holiday wardrobe takes on a decidedly tropical theme. Either way, if ever there was a cruise where I would recommend purchasing a photo package, it is a Very Merrytime Cruise.

Pirate Night

Yes! You will still get to enjoy all of the piratey shenanigans you can handle. There will still be a Pirates IN the Caribbean Deck Party, complete with fireworks (on select cruises, weather permitting). Christmas and Pirates in one cruise… shiver me timbers, what a vacation!

Wrapping it Up

Don’t forget to shop for specially themed merchandise only available during these holiday cruises. Check your Personal Navigator for special events, food and wine tastings and featured menu items. Special events and religious services for Thanksgiving, Kwanzaa and Hanukkah are also featured during select cruises. Christmas services include a midnight mass on Christmas Eve and a Christmas Day worship celebration. Ready to experience the holiday magic for yourself?
