Photographs top my list of favorite souvenirs on any vacation. You will have several opportunities to have your picture taken by Disney’s team of photographers on board your ship and on Castaway Cay. There are character meet and greets, Bibbidi Bobbidi Boo appointments, Pirate Night and formal family photos on what we call “dressy night.” And all of these great moments deserved to be captured in pictures.
How to Pre Purchase a Photo Package
If you know that you want lots of photo souvenirs of your cruise, consider purchasing a photo package ahead of time. The savings is significant versus buying packages online.
DCL uses a third party photography studio to take and sell photos. You will need to go to MyCruisePhotos.com to preorder photo packages.
To begin price and order your photo package you will need to enter
- Cruise Line
- Sailing Date
- First & Last name of an adult on the reservation
- Reservation Number
In the “Products” tab you can choose from one of the packages offered for your cruise. Typical packages include
- 10 Print Packages ($149.95)
- All-Digital Package – USB Drive
- $194.95 for a 3-Night Cruise
- $249.95 for a 7-Night Cruise
- All Digital Photos + Prints
- $269.95 for a 3-Night Cruise
- $349.95 for a 7-Night Cruise
Prices vary for packages based on the length of your cruise.
Add the desired package to your basket and proceed to the payment screen to conclude your order.
Note: When members of your immediate family are sailing in multiple staterooms, you only need to purchase one package. You must go to Shutters onboard to add a stateroom to your package as there is no way to do it online. To be eligible to link staterooms, the guests in the additional stateroom must include the children (under age 21) of the adult booking the photo package. Linking is only available for immediate family members. Extended family members such as aunts, uncles, grandparents or cousins are not eligible for linking.
If you have vacationed at Walt Disney World or Disneyland, then you are likely familiar with the PhotoPass photographers stationed throughout the park, at almost every character meet and greet and at many restaurants. Photographers are available at many of the same places on – and off – the ships.
Where you will find DCL Photographers:
- On the walkway before you even board the ship.
- Scheduled character meet & greets.
- In the Main Dining Rooms at dinnertime.
- At Palo and Remy.
- On the walkway to the beach on Castaway Cay (great for getting photos with the ship)
- In the water at Castaway Cay
- In the Atrium Lobby several nights during dinner service.
- Especially on Optional Dress Up Night and Pirate Night
On the Disney Dream and Disney Fantasy, you may also find photos of you on the AquaDuck!
Remember, it costs you nothing to get your photo taken. If you like your pictures, you can always buy them a la carte.
Where to View Your Photos
Shutters on Deck 4 of all four ships is the place to view and purchase your photos. Shutters has electronic kiosks for viewing photos digitally and shelves of stateroom books where prints can be viewed as well. To find your book, tap your Key to the World card on designated markers.
Do You Need to Buy a Photo Package?
You do not need to pre purchase a photo package to use the services of Disney’s onboard photographers. You can buy photos a la carte at Shutters on Deck 4 of all ships. An 8×10 print will cost $20.95 onboard. A package of 10 prints costs $149.95, which is about a 25% savings.
If you are a family that takes lots of photos yourself, it may make sense to buy a la carte.
DCL Prep School Tip: Formal night is a great time to get a family portrait, and at $20.95 for an 8×10, it’s a fantastic bargain!
Picking Up Your Photos
If you are buying photo prints a la carte, you can do so at Shutters during normal operating hours on any day of your cruise.
If you are purchasing a package, you will complete your pick up on disembarkation day to pick up final prints and your USB drive – if ordered. Operating hours on disembarkation day will be published, or you can ask a Shutters Crew Member. Plan to arrive early, as the line will grow as the morning progresses.
Even if you are buying a package you can view photos on the kiosk monitors or in your personal books anytime Shutters is open.
Whether with your own camera, or using Disney’s photography service, or both, you will want to take lots of photos to preserve the memories of your Disney Cruise.
