One of the best aspects of a Disney Cruise Line vacation is the amount of access guests have to Disney Characters. Meet and greets are scheduled with nautical precision throughout the day, and much like the Disney Parks in days of old, you can still see (and get photos with) characters as they freely roam the ships.

What is the Disney Cruise Line Princess Gathering?
Simply stated: The Princess Gathering is a special character meet and greet where your family can meet with, get autographs and photos with 4-6 princesses all at one time.
The princesses line the atrium floor in front of the Grand Staircase, and you are guided to your royal audience with each princess.
Do I need a ticket, and how much does the Princess Gathering cost?
This is a fairly frequent question I get about the Princess Gathering, and it’s a little confusing because…
Yes, you need a ticket for the Princess Gathering.
No, you do not pay for the ticket.
As you can imagine, the opportunity to meet this many princesses at once in such a grand setting is extremely popular.
Think of your ticket just like you would a FastPass+ for popular attractions at Walt Disney World… free but necessary!
When you reserve your ticket, you are reserving a your “time” to get in line for your meet and greet. This keeps the lines short, and you aren’t wasting precious cruise time waiting in a long line.
Even with your time reserved, plan on a 5-15 minute wait from the time you get in line until the time you meet your first princess. It all really depends on the popularity of your time slot. Keep in mind, the line attendant will not allow your party in line prior to your reserved time.
How to reserve Princess Gathering tickets?
From DCL – To book online, once you have paid in full:
- Sign in to My Reservations.
- Locate “My Cruise Activities”; then you can “View or Add Activities.”
- On your day-by-day itinerary plan, choose the day you’d like to reserve your activity; then select from the options provided.
- You’ll see a list of available choices. Select the ones you’d like to do that day. You can then review your selections and add them to the cart.
A limited number of tickets may also be available on the first day of your cruise. Please check with Guest Services once on board the ship to determine if there is availability.
Keep in mind that Character appearances are subject to change. Since space is extremely limited, only one reservation per ticketed event per voyage is allowed. Additional Character appearances that do not require a ticket are available throughout your cruise.
|First-Time Guests||75 days prior to sail date|
|Silver Castaway Club Member||90 days prior to sail date|
|Gold Castaway Club Member||105 days prior to sail date|
|Concierge Guests and Platinum Castaway Club Member||120 days prior to sail date|
Cruises that are three or four nights long will typically have only one Princess Gathering, while longer cruises will have two events. If your cruise has more than one event, you will only be able to make reservations for one.
Other free character meet and greets on Disney Cruise Line
Disney Cruise Line offers guests many chances to meet with their favorite characters throughout the cruise. If you are unable to secure tickets for your family or if the times available do not work well with your schedule, you will have other opportunities to meet with the princesses… just not all at one time.
Check the Personal Navigator or the DCL Navigator App to view all of the scheduled character meet and greets each day. Various princesses, Mickey & Friends and other favorites often make multiple appearances each day.
Times and locations are clearly stated. Just hop in line.
Other Ticketed – and free – Character Meet and Greets on Disney Cruise Line
Meet the stars of Frozen – On Most Cruises
Like the Princess Gathering, you will need a ticket for this event, and the ticket will not cost you any extra money.
With this meet and greet you never know who will meet. Could be just Anna or Elsa. Could be both, or it could be Olaf, again with or without a princess/queen. Each time it’s a surprise!
For this event there is only one meet and greet station. Even with a reserved time slot, we waited about 20 minutes to meet Olaf and Anna. We were on the Disney Dream, and the meeting was located inside of Animator’s Palate. They had the lighting scheme in the large dining room set to all blues and whites, which really gave the feeling you were in Arendelle.

Come face-to-face with some of Marvel’s mightiest during Marvel Day at Sea Cruises! Brave photos alongside Marvel Super Heroes from New York City — including Iron Man, Spider-Man and Black Panther — and share hugs and receive autographs from Guardian of the Galaxy Groot.

Feel the Force when you encounter some of your favorite heroes and villains of the legendary Star Wars saga during Star Wars Day at Sea cruises. Share hugs with legendary Wookiee warrior and Han Solo’s loyal friend, Chewbacca. Exchange greetings and enjoy a laugh with ever-dependable droids R2-D2 and C-3PO. Snap photos with the dreaded Dark Lord of the Sith, Darth Vader—if you dare! Younglings can even train in the ways of the Force—and then test their new skills against the power of the Dark Side during Jedi Training: Trials of the Temple.
Reserve these thrilling meet-and-greet sessions before you set sail—and experience “a galaxy far, far away” like never before!
Character breakfasts are only offered on cruises 7 nights or longer in duration that have 2 or more days at sea. You used to automatically get a ticket in your stateroom alerting you to the morning your breakfast would be. Now you must actively reserve your dining experience, just like you would any other onboard character experience.
The character breakfast is a table service event, and you are not charged any extra for attending. Just like character breakfasts in the parks, you can take photos with and get autographs from each character that visits.
Characters you’ll see:
- The Disney Junior Character Breakfast is presented on 7-plus night cruises departing from U.S. domestic ports with a minimum of 2 days at sea. While appearances may vary per cruise, Jake, Sophia and Doc McStuffins are typically the featured Characters.
- VIP Characters appear on 7-plus night cruises departing from non-domestic ports (including our Alaskan itineraries) with a minimum of 2 days at sea. Though appearances may vary per cruise, most sailings will include Mickey, Minnie, Goofy and Pluto.
- Character Breakfasts with Mickey, Minnie, Goofy and Pluto are featured on 14-night transatlantic and Panama Canal cruises.
- Reminder: Character Breakfasts are not currently offered on any 2-, 3-, 4-, 5- or 6-night cruises.
