The Disney Magic is headed to dry dock in early 2018 for a few major updates and enhancements. The ship underwent a head to toe overhaul just four years ago. While these changes won’t be as drastic, there will be plenty of new experiences for kids, grown ups and families.
Vibe, the space on the ship reserved for teens ages 14-17, is being transformed into a trendy urban loft environment. At Vibe, teens can enjoy a new coffee and smoothie bar, play video and virtual reality games, and check out other cool activities with new friends like a DJ spin-off and movie making. Activities at Vibe are organized and hosted by trained Disney counselors who facilitate the fun and interaction among teen Guests.
A New Main Dining Room for Families
At Rapunzel’s Royal Table, families will delight in an all-new dining experience inspired by the beloved story of Disney’s “Tangled.” The first table service restaurant themed to “Tangled” that features characters and live entertainment will transport your Clients to the kingdom of Corona for an enchanted evening of music and interactive fun featuring Rapunzel and the mischievous Snuggly Duckling Thugs. The family fun is complete with themed menus, special activities and a lively parade to cap off the evening in Corona.
I love Tangled! So this is a new item that makes me quite happy. This dining room will replace Cariocas, a Brazilian themed dining space that received a luke warm response from my family. I think the pairing of Tangled: The Musical (still the best show at sea), with Rapunzel’s Royal Table is perfect! I can’t wait to see this new space.
Adults can relax at Cove Café, an adult-exclusive retreat that will be redesigned in a sophisticated tropical style. It’s the perfect place to sip a specialty coffee or tea throughout the day, or indulge in wine or a cocktail and light bites during the evening hours.
As long as it is kept in a sophisticated style, I am ok with this update. I am very partial to the formal, yet relaxed setting. It is where Guests can peruse Walt Disney’s family photos. Changing this space makes me a bit nervous, but I am all in for a little redecorating. DCL likely wants to liven it up a bit, and make it feel more like a coffee house and a little less like a formal living room, and that is fine by me.
The Launch Date
Guests can experience these new updates for the first time on the March 9th, 2018 5-Night Western Caribbean Cruise which departs from Miami, Florida. Staterooms are still available.
